FROM LAVEEN CHEE...

Hello Everyone! For the last 4 1/2 years we have been living in Fort Irwin, CA where I am awaiting the return of my husband who has been deployed for the last 10-months in Mosul, Iraq as a Armor Officer. We have 4 boys and one girl - Darren (17), Robbin (12), Andrew (10), Teacum (7), & Tashina Rose Nizhonii (22-months). I am fortunate enough to have married Rob, an amazing man, who will soon be a Major in the Army in the Summer of 2006, and because of this I am able to stay at home with my military brats. I enjoy supporting my husband in his efforts to keep America safe and free.

I keep busy with my children and work part-time for fun with several homebased businesses (candles, quilts, floral arrangements, and hand-made bead jewelry).

Back in 1988, I became a certified electrician and during the summer of 1990 worked on the new high school gymnasiam and rewired Page High School - it was nice working on the school that I graduated from. I was also able to model for the Plaza 3 Modeling School in Albuquerque, NM in the early 90's and shortly thereafter met my husband. We will have been married 13-years on Thanksgiving Day.

When my husband returns from Iraq we will most likely be assigned a new duty station within the United States or abroad. We enjoy the benefits of travel that the military offers. When we learn where our next adventure will be I'll prepare a post.

My husband and I look forward to seeing everyone at the 2006 Reunion. I have really enjoyed reading everyone's posts and seeing the photos.

Sincerely,

Laveen Hafen

FROM VERONICA REED & WALTER KLAIN...

"Ya'a'teeh. Hello, everyone. We can hardly believe that our 20 year reunion is just right around the corner. It has been interesting to read all about what everyone else has been up to. Walter and I are still together. We just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary (but started going out our Freshman year in high school). Every year of marriage brings something new and exciting. We still continue to live in the Page area. We have four sons, Stephan (20), Kyron (19), Warren (17) and Loren (11). We have really enjoyed raising our family in the same school system we attended. We have both been very active in the schools as well. Walter and I coached for a number of years in the basketball program. Our last group of boys that we coached will be seniors this year. I truely believe Walter has made a tremendous contribution to the success of the boys basketball team at the state playoffs the last couple of years by working year around with the players since they were either 8 or 12 years of age (YEAH! Go Sand Devils).

Our oldest son is in his third year at NAU, our second is in his second year at our local college-Coconino Community College, our third is a senior this year at Page High School and our youngest is at Page Middle School.

When my oldest son was in fourth grade I decided to return to school and haven't stopped since. I am currently the K-8 Principal for Shonto Schools. Hopefully, I'll be making my way back to PUSD. I just finished my Superintendent certification. Walter returned to school as well. He was pursuing an elementary education degree (a year left to go) but deterred to facility management. He currently works at our home community at Kaibeto Boarding School. Other than day to day work, raising kids, enjoying life, family and friends we can't complain. One of our sons will be getting married later this month and yet happens another celebratory event in our lives. We still stay in close contact with a few friends like Russel and Debra, Stanley and Deb, Ginney, Claudia, Marlo among others.

We voted for late July due to school issues as well. Looking forward to see you all! We'll post a family picture later...when we can catch our breath and stand still for one!

POLLS CLOSING SOON FOR REUNION DATES...

Thanks to everyone that has voted on the dates for our reunion next summer. The majority vote is "anytime", which is great! Coming in a close 2nd is the last weekend of July 2006. If we combine those two, we definitely have a majority for that date. Considering that so many of us have kids starting school early to mid-August, I think we need to move our dates to that last weekend in July.

We will make the announcement official shortly. Just checking hotel, banquet facility availability and such. If anyone knows of a good reason why we can't do the last weekend of July, speak now!

While we all know that the Class of 1986 was absolutely the best ever, it looks like most of you wouldn't mind if we open the invite to some of the other classes we went to school with. I still think we should have one event that is for the 1986 class and family only. Once again, thanks for voting on that issue as well.

IF YOU HAVE NOT VOTED AND WANT YOUR OPINION CONSIDERED, PLEASE DO IT SOON! While we still need to find more of our missing classmates, we won't be able to wait much longer to pin down our date and go forward with the planning.

Also, just a note regarding the pictures. I'm glad to see some of the old pictures from the past that have been posted on the pictures site. However, we plan to run a slideshow at one of the events in the reunion and would like many of those photos to be a surprise. If you have photos that you think would be fun to view in a group setting, you can email them to me at brandileann@comcast.net. If you don't have them scanned in, you can send them to me via regular mail and I will scan them myself and return them to you.

Thanks!!
Brandi

FROM MALINDA BROWN...

Hey Everyone!

This such a great way to find out how everyone is doing! Do you remember when there were only three computers in Mrs. Hunter's room? We have come a long way!

I vacationed at Lake Powell last summer. I forgot how truly beautiful it is. I am looking forward to going again next summer with my family. I'm not sure who makes the decision on the date but I hope you will take into account that a lot of schools start in early August.

I live in St. Augustine with my husband and two children. My son, Adam is 12 and my daughter, Lauren, is 9. I divorced five years ago and remarried last year & moved to Florida which is my husband's home state. My husband, Brent, had never been married or has any children. I absolutely love it here in St. Augustine, which by the way, is the oldest city in the nation.

I work as the Development Director for a non-profit housing organization. We do work similar to my that of Habitat for Humanity which was my former employer before moving here. My husband is a caddie on the PGA tour and travels a lot.

Dawn Apodaca, do you still have those conehead costumes? By the way, it was YOU who lied to your mother. I just went along with it.

Life goes by so fast. Do you remember our teachers that were nearing 40 and how old they seemed? It is right around the corner!

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you all next summer.

Best Wishes,

FROM PHS TEACHERS MR. & MRS. BURGES...

"...We remember our ten years in Page as very good years. We are now in Virginia. Mrs. Burges is now Dr. Burges and is the Assistant Vice President of Longwood University. I am an English professor and professional writer (mystery/thriller).

Our children are all grown now and we have several grandchildren. Someday we will have to take a vacation back to Lake Powell as tourists. I still keep in touch with a couple of the people in town.

Best,

Dennis Burges"
